I just bought 15 litres of Wilkinson's matt emulsion in White. They're £4 per 5-litre tub, so it's cheap, but it makes the place look nice.
The first two tubs of paint I bought were Morrison's Brilliant White. I only realised I hadn't bought the same colour when I started to put another layer on the spare bedroom.
Still, white is actually better at covering the wall imperfections and vomit-coloured plasterboard than brilliant white, so never mind. I'm a DIY machine, people. I've gone through a box-and-a-half of Polyfilla (there were some pretty big holes in the living room walls) and I'm nowhere near finished.
But I have: painted the kitchen, sealed the kitchen window, painted the spare bedroom, painted our bedroom, I've done three walls of the internal hall, all of the front hall, the utility room, and almost all of the living room.
The bathroom...well, I did one wall, because it was majorly depressing, and I wanted to paint it before we got the new radiators.
We're getting new radiators. In fact, an entirely new heating system. Praise the Lord, because the house is absolutely freezing. Thank goodness the insulation (cavity wall, double glazing, some in the loft) is good, because we haven't frozen. But now the warmer weather is coming, we can turn the radiators off, and we can get new, efficient, gas radiators (WHO thought storage heaters were a good idea? No, seriously. WHO?)
Man, I am SO happy about this, it's not even funny. Even if it means mess in the house for the whole of next week.
After the radiators? The skirting boards.
Again, WHO thought pink skirting, or orange skirting, or yellow door frames were a good idea?
Siiiiigh.
Still, not even the fact that my hoover is missing a vital component (where did it go?) can bring me down, people.
I am on a roll with the decorating.
On. A. Roll.
